Emily Dickinson (1830–86).

Complete Poems. 1924. Part One: Life

VI

IF I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

I am glad you like this poem and its author. It's one of my favorite poets, even though her poems tend to be filled with melancholy because of her continuous concern with her mortality. Concern that I think is healthy to some extent because it lets you appreciate life, and each day, so much more.

PS. Thanks for the comment, I shall get back at sharing these great poems with the world.
